At least it opened the way to a lively explanation of how the Duchess was, in fact, going back the next moment, but had first rushed out to the yacht for a word. It’s my winding-down activity each evening – it’s kind of therapeutic to sit and work on my lettering at the end of each day! It’s totally doable, even if you’ve never done any kind of lettering because Amy takes you through each skill and breaks it down into easy to follow steps. I love that she not only teaches hand lettering in lots of different styles, but she includes the cute decorative features that make hand lettering so fun – like these banners I was practicing here. In addition to skippering the 21-foot Duffy electric cruiser named A Lake Trick, Rollings designs and crafts custom furniture and functional art from reclaimed materials. I clearly need a lot more work, but I’m only on chapter 8 so I’ve got lots more to learn! I went away to college (studying fine art at Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida) and tried Chicago for a while, but Leelanau always calls me back. ![]() At the end of each chapter Amy has a cute hand drawn page where you can do your phrase for the chapter. I bought a little inexpensive sketch book so I could practice lots with each chapter – it’s worked out perfectly. It’s so great! Let me show you some of my progress. The book launched yesterday but I’ve had a copy for a few weeks and I’m working my way through it – because the awesome thing about this book is that it’s a workbook! There are step-by-step chapters and instructions with little hand lettering projects for each chapter. Showroom Hours: Monday - Friday 9.00-4.00. One of my goals this year was to work on my hand lettering! I use so much lettering in my hoops and embroidery and I want it all to eventually be MY handwriting – not fonts!
